Onehunga High School

This level builds on the Spanish Beginners course. A brief revision of the previous term will be included, but students who wish to attend this course should have either completed the beginners course or have covered the same topics and possess similar skills and knowledge. (Please refer to the Spanish Beginners course for a full overview).

Level 2 aims to develop grammar skills, grow vocabulary and increase exposure to the language as well as build confidence with listening, speaking and responding to questions.

During this course we will cover:

  • revision of the Spanish Beginners topics
  • building on personal presentations and conversations
  • vocabulary of the family, daily routines, food, body parts, and more…
  • sentence building
  • listening to, reading and understanding short texts
  • building on grammar concepts, such as: possessive pronouns and adjectives
  • building on our verbs and conjugations in the present tense (regular and irregular)
  • introduction of reflexive verbs in the present tense
  • introduction of the present continuous

… ending each week with a song that ties in what's been taught, enhances pronunciation and understanding, all the while offering some new vocabulary in a fun way!

On completion of these seven weeks, you will have gained enough knowledge and confidence to be able to have detailed basic conversations in Spanish, understand short texts, grasp a large portion of essential grammar and have enough skills to either continue on with self-study or attend intermediate courses.
